How to Re-upload Media Files

Re-upload allows you to replace an existing media file while maintaining the original URL, views, statistics, and all media settings. This is useful when the media link has already been distributed or has accumulated engagement metrics you want to retain.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you:

  • Belong to a group with Upload Media permission enabled

Important Considerations

  • The new file goes through transcoding. Playback is unavailable during this process.
  • For DRM-enabled videos, a new encryption key is assigned. Previously issued keys will no longer work.
  • The replaced video is sent to the recycle bin and deleted permanently according to the portal's purge policy.
  • All media settings and statistics from the original file are retained on the new file.
  • This process applies to all media types (video, audio, documents).

Re-upload Media

  1. In VIDIZMO, go to Admin > Media Manager.
  2. Select the overflow menu on the media item.
  3. Select Re-upload.
  4. Drag and drop the replacement file or select Click here to upload.
  5. In Media Settings, verify the retained settings and make any necessary changes.
  6. Select Save.

Once transcoding completes, the re-uploaded media appears in Media Manager with the original URL preserved.
